Do you like to write? If yes, do you find it difficult to make time to sit down and write? This is a meetup group for people to get together and, well, write. The group (or whoever RSVPs) meets once a week. For 1-2 hours (or however long you can stay) we sit down and write quietly. Once a month we'll get together afterwards to talk about our writing or just socialize. I'm not interested in critiquing, lectures, and the like.

Happy New Year! As a non-fiction writer, I've been intrigued by the number of "Meetup" groups that have popped up in the tristate area under the name: "Shut Up and Write!" Most of these groups are in NYC but lately I've noticed a few in Montclair and Morristown. So I've decided to put some feelers out to see if the idea will work in my community. (You don't have to live in Maplewood or South Orange to join us.) The "Shut Up and Write!" Meetups are not a critique group or a writing class. They ar …
So I majored in Creative Writing in college and loved my workshop classes. I vowed to find one after I graduated so that I kept up with my writing. That was over three years ago. I have not been in any writing workshops since and my writing has been getting less and less. Sound familiar? If you are an aspiring writer, love to write to release stress or just like to write as a hobby, but don't really find yourself motivated, then join my group. I love to write, but I feel that its too hard to do …

This group's aim is to connect local creative non-fiction women writers to form "writing buddy" partnerships. Published and aspiring writers are welcome to join. Some people have asked what creative nonfiction is. I'd refer people to two excellent books on the topic, although there are many others out there. Lee Gutkind's You Can't Make This Stuff Up, and Adair Lara's Naked, Drunk and Writing are two books that every CNF writer and aspiring writer should check out. Creative Nonfiction Magazine i …
